With the addition of seven more confirmations the state Department of Health updated their count of novel H1N1 Flu cases in Hawaii to 40 this morning. Of these seven the DOH confirmed one new case of novel H1N1 virus (swine flu) at Waiau Elementary. The student is recovering from a mild case of the flu at home. Another case included in today’s DOH report was a Mililani Middle individual. This person was diagnosed earlier and has fully recovered from their illness.

As of 5 a.m. HST May 21 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 5,764 confirmed cases in 48 states and nine deaths.
The World Health Organization reports as of 8 p.m. HST May 20, 41 countries have officially reported 11,034 cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection, including 85 deaths.
