The building looks good and the employees have been hired. Kona Target now is just waiting to open its doors July 26.

A total of 311 personnel were selected to the store’s inaugural team last week at a four-day job fair in Kona, Target store team leader Roger Thomas said.

Joining nearly two dozen supervisors and managers, the new employees will begin orientation the second week of June, once the new store in Kona Commons is available for occupancy.

The promise of 300 full-time, part-time and casual shifts drew more approximately 1,400 applicants to the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa, Thomas said. Positions on offer – starting at $11 an hour – included stock, sales floor, cashiers, security and some supervisory slots.

The store also will house Starbucks and Pizza Hut kiosks and a photo lab. They also will need staffing.

Thomas said applications from those not hired will be kept on file for future job openings.

Target hours are slated to be 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays.
