Join Mayor Billy Kenoi and officials from federal state and county agencies for a public briefing next week on the federal economic stimulus package, also known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.

The free two-hour workshop will include a question-and-answer session about stimulus opportunities that are available on the Island of Hawai‘i.
The workshop will be held 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Maka`eo Events Pavilion, Old Kona Airport Park, Kuakini Highway, Kailua. Please RSVP by Thursday, May 21, by calling 961-8366.

The ARRA is designed to boost the nation’s economy, offering new opportunities for state and local jurisdictions that are prepared to aggressively seek out funding for projects and programs that offer long-tem benefits to their communities.

The County of Hawaii is pressing ahead with projects to improve the island’s infrastructure and boost the local economy. The County is also seeking opportunities for partnerships with community-based organizations to encourage economic development through social service and other programs.

The workshop will be similar to one held May 7 in Hilo. For more information, call 961-8366.
