Vandals damage windows at Hilo homes and business

Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in providing information to the person or people responsible in damaging windows to homes and a business in the Hilo area recently.

During Monday night, May 11, 2009, between 10:15 p.m. and 10:20 p.m., windows to three different homes in the Waiakea area were either thrown or slingshot at with marbles. A white sedan or sports utility vehicle was seen leaving the area after one of the homes was damaged.

This was followed by a report that a business on Kuawa Street in Hilo sustained window damage caused by a marble some time during the evening of Sunday night, May 10, 2009 to the early morning hours of Monday, May 11, 2009.

Anyone with information about these cases or similar incidents are asked to call Acting Sergeant Aubrey Auna of the South Hilo Patrol at (808) 961-2213 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300 in Hilo or (808) 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
