HCFCU recognized for outstanding marketing efforts

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union has been recognized with three national awards for marketing excellence.

For the first time, HCFCU received a “Golden Mirror Merit Award” from the Credit Union Executives Society. The society is an independent, international membership association for credit union executives worldwide with a mission to educate and develop credit union CEOs, directors and future leaders.

HCFCU also received a Diamond and a Merit award for outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry from the Credit Union National Association Marketing and Business Development Council.

This national network is comprised of more than 1,000 credit union marketing and business development professionals. Awards are given each year in each of 34 categories ranging from advertising to community events and beyond.

The Golden Mirror Award of Merit was in the Direct Marketing/Mail Single category for HCFCU’s “Who Says Money Can’t Buy Friends” campaign.

The mail piece featured punch-out silhouettes for potential members to bring into the credit union when they opened an account. The figure signified the importance of the individual person at the credit union and emphasizes that each member is considered an “owner” by HCFCU.

The CUNA Diamond Award was also in the Direct Mail (Single) category for its entry entitled “90 Day-No Pay.”  This promotion coincided with the country’s ongoing economic struggles as well as the beginning of the holiday planning season.

It was designed to encourage member/owners to transfer their auto loans to Hawaii Community FCU in return for a few months of relief from their auto loan payment – at a time that they might need it the most.

Additionally, HCFCU won a Merit Award in the Membership Packets, Brochures, Booklets category for its entry entitled “Owners Manual.”

It was organized by lifetime milestones; Getting Married, Having a Baby, Raising Kids, Off to College, Starting a Career, Buying a Car, Buying a Home, Retirement, etc. The manual included actual quotes from members/owners describing a positive experience at the credit union.

“These three awards demonstrate to our member/owners that Hawaii Community FCU has the creativity and business savvy to compete in the national marketplace,” says Michael Asam, president and CEO. “I congratulate our whole team for thinking outside the box and coming up with the services and translating then these services into a award-winning marketing campaign.”

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union has been serving its members for 72 years. It is a not-for-profit credit union, wholly owned by its 36,000 -plus members.
