The host Hilo Vikings girls’ softball team got to send its seniors off with a 10-3 win over the visiting Kamehameha-Hawaii Warriors. Hilo got the scoring started by bringing home a run in the bottom of the first inning. Kamehameha answered back by tying the game at one all in the top of the second inning. Due to costly errors by the visiting Warriors and timely hitting by the Vikings, the host team scored six runs in their half of the second inning. After the second inning Kamehameha’s pitching settled down allowing only three more Hilo runs to score while the Warriors scored single runs in the top of the sixth and seventh inning. Kadi Pulgados got the win for Hilo, while Chelsea Hirai went 2 for 4 with a homer. Hilo next plays cross-town rival Waiakea in a battle of unbeaten teams on Friday.
