Community Enterprises looking for support

The non-profit organization that sponsors the Kona Town Meetings is looking for a little help.

The next meeting is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Old Kona Airport, with guest speakers Mayor Billy Kenoi and members of his cabinet, including Director Public Works Warren Lee, Director of Parks and Recreation Bob Fitzgerald, Planning Director Bobbie Jean Leithead-Todd and Deputy Managing Director Wally Lau.

Community Enterprise President Fred Housel sent this letter:

Dear Kona Town Meeting Supporter,

We need your help.

Community Enterprises, which organizes and presents nine monthly Kona Town Meetings annually, is a non-profit, non-partisan 501 c3 charity which depends on grants and donations to produce the Kona Town Meetings. All members of Community Enterprises are unpaid volunteers.

In past years, we have been fortunate to receive financial support for our meetings from our South and North Kona Council members.

In this year’s difficult economy, that financial support is not possible.

Therefore, we are asking for your help so we can continue presenting monthly Kona Town Meetings on topics important to our community.

If all members are unpaid, where does the money go? you might ask. Each meeting costs approximately $300 to produce. Two thirds goes into advertising for the meeting and approximately one third is used for the refreshments and programs.

We truly appreciate any contribution you are able to make. If you own a business, we offer meeting sponsorships in which your business is published in our advertising and in our programs and you will have the opportunity to speak about your business at the Town Meeting.

We also appreciate in-kind contributions such as refreshments. We are also seeking a digital projector and screen for our future meeting speakers.

If you are able to contribute, please send your contribution to our Treasurer Barbara Housel, 74-5063 Tomi Tomi Drive, Kailua Kona, HI 96740. Please make all checks payable to Community Enterprises, Inc. All donations are tax deductible.

If you are interested in becoming a meeting sponsor, please contact Fred Housel at 331-8602 or Fred@kieleokona.com for more information.

Mahalo for your support,

Fred Housel

President, Community Enterprises, Inc.
