Kona’s Officer of the Month Edwin Buyten

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer Edwin Buyten as “Officer of the Month” in a luncheon ceremony Wednesday (April 1) at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

Officer Buyten, a former “Officer of the Year,” was honored for for his work in apprehending a drug courier at Kona International Airport. His work led to the recovery of approximately one pound of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $35,000.

As “Officer of the Month,” Buyten is eligible to become “Officer of the Year” again.

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawaii.
