Sad, so sad. Hard economic times and fast island growth over the past decade is changing our country lifestyle on the Big Island. I used to love to boast about the honor and trust among the canoe paddlers area at Kawaihae, sharing a true story of mine; When I heard unexpectedly that my Dad had passed away up on the mainland, I didnt take the time to move my boat, leaving it at Kawaihae while off island. Upon my return I was over come by malama pono; finding everything as I’d left it.
