Fire/Rescue responded to an 8 a.m. alarm Thursday to search for four hikers reported missing in Honokane Valley since the Wednesday. Heavy rains on Wednesday caused flooding in the valley. Hawaii County Fire Department Choppers 1 and 2 performed an air search in partly coudy conditions and occasional rain showers.
Chopper 2 located five other hikers in the valley and airlifted them to the Pololu Valley lookout to a Fire Department Command Post. Both helicopters continued the search until Chopper 1 located the four missing hikers on a trail but they declined any assistance.
