Care.com has launched Care Exchange, a new resource for Care.com members to exchange care services for free with one another. 

Care Exchange is a simple way for families to save on child care and pet care by setting up one-on-one babysitting and pet sitting co-ops with other families in their area.

Care Exchange allows members to post an ad specifying the type of care they need. Members can indicate their specific child or pet care needs, including their care preferences and a description of their ideal partner family or pet owner. 

In turn, other members can search through Care Exchange ads by zip code to see profiles of local families and find other members with similar needs.

The Care Exchange scheduling tool makes it easy for families and individuals to designate the dates and times they need child care or pet care, making the process of finding an appropriate match more efficient, said Sheila Lirio Marcelo, founder and CEO of Care.com.  Additionally, families can include detailed descriptions about their family and pets, hobbies and interests and any special needs to help other families find the right match.

“A poll of Care.com members showed that 35 percent of families expect they will need to cut back on child care expenses this year,” Lirio Marcelo said. “Care Exchange helps families to save money by teaming up with others in their area who have similar needs. Even if it’s only for a day or two a week, Care Exchange is a great way to meet up with local moms, dads and pet owners and to provide each other with caregiving relief.”

All caregiver profiles and Care Exchange proposals are pre-screened by experienced moms, providing users an added layer of confidence and security when making important decisions regarding family care needs.
