Waipahu, HI (3/23/09) – At Central Oahu Regional Park, the HPU men’s and women’s tennis teams both topped UH-Hilo. The Lady Sea Warriors defeated the 29th-ranked Vulcans 9-0, with the men’s team winning 7-2 over the #24 men’s team.

In the ladies action, HPU (8-3, 3-0) never gave up a set en route to the shutout win. The nation’s 18th-ranked and region’s 2nd-ranked team took all three doubles matches, highlighted by Ingrid Cseh and Zora Vlckova’s win in one doubles. They topped the 17th-ranked doubles pair of Christie Pagatpatan and Eve Castaing, 8-6.

Vlckova ousted singles #32 Castaing once more, this time in one singles 6-3, 6-2. In two singles, #45 Nina Mihova topped #37 Pagatpatan 6-2, 6-0.

The men’s team improved to 9-1 on the season with their win over the nation’s 24th ranked team. HPU, currently ranked first in the West Region and sixth in the nation, lost in only one and five singles.

Nikola Petrov and Daniel Luedi won in one doubles over Kevin Tamura and Laurent Colombo, 8-4; and Petrov and Anton Samuilau won in third game pro sets in fifth and fourth singles, respectively.
