Woman stabbed by man on Saddle Road

Hawai’i Police are investigating a robbery reported Sunday morning (March 15) in the South Kohala District.

At about 8:15 a.m., South Kohala Patrol officers responded to a report of a woman that was assaulted while stopped on the side of Saddle Road in the area of the 52 mile marker.

At about 8:00 a.m., on Sunday morning (March 15) while within her vehicle on the side of Saddle Road, the victim was approached by an unidentified Micronesian male who demanded the victim’s keys and wallet. After the victim refused, the suspect stabbed the victim in the left arm.

The victim fled the scene in her vehicle heading west and the suspect fled in an easterly direction towards Hilo within a gray primer colored Toyota pickup truck.

The suspect is described as a male in his late 40’s, approximately 5’10” in height, 220 pounds, bald and wearing a red t-shirt and blue jean shorts.

The victim was treated by Rescue Personnel for her injury and was released.

Detective Myra Iwamoto, Kona Criminal Investigation Section, is continuing the investigation.

Police ask anyone with information about the suspect or anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.
