Kona Library Book Club on ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’

MEDIA RELEASE

The Kona Library Book Club meets at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17 on the lanai of the Kailua-Kona Public Library.

This month attendees are invited to discuss “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini. This is the second book by Hosseini that describes family life and love in Afghanistan during the last 30 years.

The characters in this book are new and different from those in his last book, “The Kite Runner.” This story is about the hopes and family aspirations of two women set against the changing politics of Afghanistan and the ravages of the Taliban. It is a riveting story that is excellently written. A very difficult book to put down, it is certain to provide a good discussion.

Light refreshments will be served.

The Book Club will meet in April to discuss “The Glass Castle” by Jannette Walls.

The Kona Library Book Club is sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona. Participants are encouraged to become FOLK members.
