UH-Hilo women’s basketball team beats Chaminade 86-67

The University of Hawai‘i at Hilo defeated Chaminade University 86-67 in McCabe Gymnasium in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.

The Vulcans’ 2008-09 season ends at 15-9 with a 6-6 Pacific West Conference record. The Silverswords are 0-27 overall and 0-12 in the PWC

Honolulu, HI Chaminade played its final basketball season game last night and ended up losing by a score of 86 to 67. The SIlverswords graduate two players from this year’s team, Camille Moody and Arielle Salavador.

Samantha Saito and Jasmine Dulan led the scoring for the SIlverswords. Saito had 24 points and 3 boards and Dulan contributed 22 points and 2 boards. Ayla Mull nearly had a double double, grabbing 8 points and 10 rebounds.

Chaminade was out rebounded 39 to 27. They shot 40% from the floor to Hawaii Hilo’s 55%. Hawaii Hilo was led by Sheilia Azevedo, she posted 24 points for the Vulcans.

With the loss tonight Chaminade falls to 0-27 on the year while Hawaii Hilo improves its record to 15-8 overall. Chaminade looks to build on next year’s class coming back and the new players coming in. Chaminade returns, Samantha Saito, Demyla Rodriquez, Kimberly Kishi and Jasmine Dulan. With a solid nucleus of players returning for the Swords, the season looks promising for next year’s team.  Only time will tell how they will fair in the Pac West Conference and in Division 2 next season.
