Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers Agricultural Education Workshops

MEDIA RELEASE

There is a need for growers in Hawaii to be aware of new regulations regarding their farm operations and to gain a better understanding of liability issues they face. There are also a number of new opportunities for growers to help increase their profitability and manage risk.

The free 30-minute sessions held at CTAHR Extension Offices* via Polycom will run from 6:00 to 8:00pm and will give you basic understanding of the programs and how and where to obtain more detailed information.

The next regular meeting of the Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers will be held Monday March. 16th. Gene Nolin, Soil and Crop Consultant, will speak on “Beyond Organics: Greater Yield and Plant Health through Soil Management and Foliar Feeding.

The group will also view a 13-minute DVD from UH CTAHR on harvesting and packing lychee, rambutan and longon.

The meeting is held at the UH Cooperative Extension Office in Kainaliu from 7PM to 9PM. Members are asked to bring fruit for sampling. Non-members are welcome to attend.
