Daifukuji Orchid Club hosting open house March 11

MEDIA RELEASE

In its 27th year, members of the Kona Daifukuji Orchid Club invite the community to its March Membership Open House 7-10 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 at the Daifukuji Mission Hall. 

Admission is free and refreshments prepared by club members will be served.

Attendees will be introduced to the hobby of growing orchids at seven interactive and educational stations staffed by friendly club members. Topics covered range from orchid potting techniques to different orchid varieties: cattleya, dendrobium, oncidium, vanda, phalanopsis and epidendrum.  Handouts on orchid culture will be available and plants will be sold.

Members also will display their blooming plants and answer questions about the club.

The Kona Daifukuji Orchid Club is West Hawai‘i’s oldest orchidaceae organization with a mission to learn and foster orchid culture and promote fellowship among orchid collectors. 

The club meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Daifukuji Soto Mission Hall is on Highway 11 at mile marker 114, just north of Kainaliu.
