Kona Town Meeting highlights property taxes

MEDIA RELEASE

The Kona Town Meeting is slated for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Makaeo Events Pavilion, Old Kona Airport Park.  This month’s topic is “Real Estate Property Taxes – where are we?” 

Featured speakers include: 

Greg Gerard – Realtor Broker, Clark Realty.  Discussion of Hawaii County real estate market sales past, present, future outlook. 

Peter Lasich – RE Appraiser, Pacific Rim Appraisal.  Discussion Hawaii County real estate valuations past, present, issues with valuating real property. 

Stan Sitko – Hawaii County Real Property Tax Administrator.  Discussion on how valuations are performed and the different tax rates. Discuss the different classifications.  Why Hawaii County rates are different than other county rates. 

Pete Hoffmann – County Councilman District 9.  Discussion of factors the council must address in setting tax rates for this difficult year.
