Kona Village Resort restaurant tops for Zagat

MEDIA RELEASE

The newest edition of Zagat Hawaii is reporting Kona Village Resort’s signature restaurant Hale Samoa received the highest total survey score of any dining establishment on the Big Island. Kona Village also ranked among the island’s best in the accommodations and luau categories.

“We’ve just introduced a new menu at Hale Samoa as we continue to refine this signature restaurant’s excellent cuisine,” said Kona Village General Manager Ulrich Krauer. “Hale Samoa Chef Skye Harris and our Executive Chef Mark Tsuchiyama do a fabulous job in weaving traditional local foods and island fresh products into creative cuisine modernized for today’s sophisticated tastes. The results of the Zagat survey confirm their success.”

Krauer said because the total votes received did not meet a minimum required Hale Samoa is not included in the book’s “tops list.”

In addition to the high ranking of Hale Samoa, Kona Village is listed among the island’s top overall hotels and the resort’s luau, the longest running luau on the island, is listed among the island’s top attractions. Survey respondents commented that Kona Village’s luau was “informative” and “family-friendly,” with “impressive” food. Comments relating to accommodations included that Kona Village is “one of the last authentic Hawaii hideaways.”
