Hawaii Island Hoops announces today the dates for the week-long College Prep Basketball Camp. The college prep camp will be held from June 8-12, 2009 in Kailua-Kona at the Kekuaokalani Gym on the Big Island. The camp is open to boys basketball players ages 13 – 20 who what to learn about the college game, experience and what they need to prepare for academically and athletically.
“We’re excited about this year’s college prep camp because of the quality of coaches that are attending” said Andy Smith, Director of Hawaii Island Hoops. “We have invited college coaches from the NCAA, NAIA and Junior College level to attend and provide top notch instruction, academic information, and encourage our youth to consider all the different options of getting a college education. It’s a great way to start your college recruiting process”.
The College Prep basketball camp will provide college level instruction on individual fundamental development through shooting, ball handling, passing, offense and defense. There will also be 5 on 5 team games, individual skills competition, along with the week ending with a championship and all-star game.
The camp fee is $400 and will provide each camper with team uniform, camp T-shirt, basketball, water bottle, includes 3 meals daily, team and individual awards. We’ll also have an athletic trainer on site. Every evening there will be a guest lecture on preparing for college athletics and education, meeting high school requirements, and former campers who are now playing on the college level will share their experiences.
