A training camp specifically for triathletes is planned on the  Big Island shortly after next month’s  Lavaman Triathlon.

The 2009 Ironman 70.3 Hawaii Training Camp, with training and learning opportunities from LifeSport Coaching, the “Official Coaches of Ironman” is scheduled March 30-April 2.

Helping with the camp will be pro Ironman athletes including Heather Gollnick, Bree Wee, Katya Meyers, and Olympian Lisa Mensink.

The Official Ironman 70.3 Hawaii Training Camp is an opportunity to improve triathlon skills and build early season fitness in a magnificent setting. Experience the Ford Ironman World Championship course first hand.

Only 20 spots are available, although all abilities are welcome regardless of whether new to the sport, preparing for 70.3 events, or competing in Hawaii later in the season.

Training sessions will include open water swim skills, riding and hill climbing, transitions, running drills and pacing, along with race strategies, nutrition, and planning your season, and equipment selection.
