Two rescued from Wailuku River

The Fire Department reports it conducted a swift water rescue Monday evening after two people got in trouble in Wailuku River.

Fire/rescue crews spotted and rescued two men – ages 23 and 26 – who were trapped in the waters off Piikea Street.

In addition to an engine, a medic unit and three other rescue squads, the county helicopter was used in the rescue after the alarm was raised shortly after 6 p.m.

No other details were released.
