Booklovers to discuss ‘The Year of Magical Thinking’

MEDIA RELEASE

The Booklovers Club meets 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 on the lanai of the Kailua-Kona Public Library. This month attendees are invited to discuss “The Year of Magical Thinking” by Joan Didion. As reviewed by The New Yorker, “Didion’s husband, the writer John Gregory Dunne, died of a heart attack, just after they had returned from the hospital where their only child, Quintana, was lying in a coma. This book is a memoir of Dunne’s death, Quintana’s illness, and Didion’s efforts to make sense of a time when nothing made sense. This book is about getting a grip and getting on; it’s also a tribute to an extraordinary marriage.”

Light refreshments will be served.

The Book Club will meet in March to discuss “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini.

The Book Club is sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona. Participants are encouraged to become FOLK members.
