Four UH-Hilo Vulcans selected for PacWest preseason All-Conference

A quartet of players is expected to lead the University of Hawaii at Hilo to a third place finish in the NCAA Division II Pacific West Conference baseball race according to a poll of conference coaches.

Selected to the 2009 PacWest Preseason All-Conference baseball team are Matt Haasenritter, Clayton Uyechi, Ronel Trias and Anthony Pilla.

Haasenritter, a 6-foot-3 senior catcher/first baseman, started 28 games and collected 11 RBI and three doubles.

Uyechi, a 5-8 senior pitcher, appeared in eight games with seven starts and was 1-3 with a 4.37 ERA.

Trias, a 5-6 junior outfielder, was second on the team in batting with a .318 average and stolen bases with 7 in 44 games. He recorded 49 hits, seven doubles, three triples and 13 RBI.

Pilla sat out last season and is a junior infielder.
