NHCH board appearing at Waimea meeting

MEDIA RELEASE

The North Hawaii community is invited to meet and talk-story with North Hawaii Community Hospital’s newly seated board as part of Waimea Community Association (WCA) next town meeting at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 at Parker School Theatre.

Everyone is welcome to WCA Town Meetings. There is no charge though a $12 annual membership in the association is urged.

All of the new board which officially assumed responsibility for North Hawaii’s community-owned, non-profit 40-bed, acute care hospital as of Jan. 1, have been invited and many are expected to attend and be available to answer questions and listen to suggestions or comments as part of the hospital’s commitment to a continuing process of “Listening, Healing and Change.”

Leading the hospital discussion will be the board’s new chairman Bob Momsen. Other new board members include William Anderson, Linda Clifford, Clifford Dias, Bill Hastings, William Hutchinson, Kahu Billy Mitchell, Carolyn Quick, Michael Rossi and Kenneth Wood. Returnees to the board are Dr. John Dawson and Mike Luce.

Also on the WCA Town Meeting agenda will be the association’s annual election to fill two officer positions – vice president and secretary. Nominated for VP is Sherman Warner, who currently serves as treasurer, and nominated for secretary is Lani Olsen-Chong. All WCA members in good standing – who have paid their 2009 dues – may vote.

Other agenda items include an update on security and access issues at Kawaihae Harbor, a briefing about the new Hawaii First Community Resource Center located upstairs in Waimea Center (behind McDonalds), and a review of Waimea Community Education’s Spring Classes.

For information about WCA town meetings, call President Bill Sanborn at 895-1122.
