Friday, January 30, 2009. The St. Joseph’s boys’ basketball team celebrated their Homecoming game by defeating Hawaii Preparatory Academy 65 to 30. The high scorers for the home team were Jacob Andrade and Royden Masulit with 17 points each. Keita Kiyomitsu sank a game high 19 points in HPA’s losing effort.

The game was played following the presentation of St Joseph’s Homecoming court, which required two of the basketball players to make speedy clothing changes right before tip-off. Cruz Martinez and Jess Maiava set aside their basketball uniforms for a more formal attire as they joined eight of their schoolmates on the floor. Freshman Attendant Tiara Inoue was escorted by Keoki Leite; the Sophomore Attendants were Ku’ulei Lord and Chad Wissing; Junior Attendants were Alyxandra Hopkins and Cruz Martinez; Senior Attendants were Sage Van Kralingen and Andrea Valentini. The Homecoming Queen was Chelbie-Lyn Hanohano with Homecoming King Jess Maiava as her escort. After the court was presented and they performed a lively dance to the delight of the crowd.
