Junior Ku’uipo Nakoa scored twice to lead HPA over Honokaa in a BIIF semi-final match-up.

At the 8 minute mark, sophomore Selena Osorio fed Nakoa down the left flank. Nakoa broke through and shot a low hard right foot shot … the Honokaa keeper’s stop bounced right back to Nakoa and she tapped in the rebound.

At the 44 minute mark, junior Noe Enos led a quick counterattack right up the middle of the field. As the defense collapsed on her, Enos fed a perfect through ball to Nakoa who dribbled in alone and scored in the lower right corner.

Honokaa got on the board in the 78 minute when Kim Kishimoto gathered a failed HPA clear and hit a hard shot from 18 yards out.

Hawaii Prep coach Steve Perry said, “I was very happy how we came out and took the game to Honokaa right at the start to set the tone. Ku’uipo showed how dangerous she can be out there today. I thought Noe Enos (midfield) and Leeta Grap (sweeper) had outstanding games throughout.

Honokaa really showed fight and had us running around pretty good in the last 10-15 minutes. I was impressed with that.

Hopefully we can play hard again on Saturday.”
