U.S. Army Corps of Engineers checks on Waiakea Stream in Hilo

MEDIA RELEASE

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct field checks along Waiakea Stream from Komohana Street to Puainako Street, upstream to Palai Street and at Kupulau Ditch to Palai Stream on January 28.

This is part of the ongoing Waiakea Stream Flood Damage Reduction Project currently underway.

The Waiakea Stream Flood Damage Reduction project was requested by the County of Hawaii in 2001 as a result of flood waters exceeding capacities near Kawailani Street Bridge, Kupulau Road and several areas in Waiakea uka in 2000.
