Hawaii Prep blanks Honokaa 2-0 in girls soccer

Hawaii Prep 2 (GK - Keilyn Ryusaki)

Freshman Katie Case scored both goals as HPA fought past Honokaa in a key BIIF division II contest. Case scored off a free kick in the 26th minute as she placed her 25 yard shot right under the bar. Case again tallied in the 51st minute as she played give and go with forward Ku’uipo Nakoa down the middle of the Dragon defense and slid in a shot to the short side from about 10 yards out.

Hawaii Prep coach Steve Perry: Today was the girls’ best effort of the season as far as energy and playing the full 80 minutes. I thought we would be in trouble after Tuesday’s game since we had to play so hard in the heat at Waiakea … but the girls kept working and making things happen.

Freshman, Leeta Grap, was a strong force in the back today and Keilyn had her strongest game in goal making a couple of key saves early in the 2nd half while the game was still 1-0.

Katie worked hard throughout and played well with Noe Enos to cover Honokaa’s strong midfield.

Hopefully we can keep the momentum going and play well over the next couple of weeks.
