Fatal vehicle accident Saturday night in Kona

Fire/Rescue personnel responded to an 8:30 p.m. alarm Saturday, Jan. 10 for a two vehicle accident involving four people at the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Nani Kailua Drive.

A West Side tow-truck and a Honda compact car collided at the intersection. Occupants of the car are in their 20s and the driver of the tow-truck in his 30s.

A male passenger in the car died at the scene while the driver had critical injuries. Another passenger in the car and the tow-truck driver had minor injuries and all three survivors were taken to Kona Community Hospital for treatment.

No cause of the accident has been reported.
