Mauna Kea summit access road open

Road/Snow Information from MK Rangers and Support Group
Road status: Open
Comments: Saturday, January 10, 2009 – 07:14 a.m.

The Summit Access Road is open to the public this morning. There has been no new snow since January 2. Favorable weather has been forecast through Saturday and road closures are unlikely to occur until Sunday, when the next cold front approaches.

Please do not stop and park on the cinder road, as it is narrow and a few vehicles parked here will create a traffic jam. Drive a little futher to the pavement, where the roads are wider and public parking spaces are provided.
