Statehood Commmission seeks businesses started in 1959

MEDIA RELEASE

As the people of Hawaii prepare to commemorate 50 years of statehood, many in the state’s business community have cause to celebrate their company’s anniversary as well.

The Hawaii 50th Anniversary of Statehood Commission is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying Hawaii companies and organizations that began operating in the islands in 1959, the year Hawaii became a state.

“As Hawaii marks its half-century anniversary as a state, we are grateful for the businesses that have grown with Hawaii, employing local residents and helping build the state’s prosperity over the last 50 years,” said Kippen de Alba Chu, chair of the Hawaii 50th Anniversary of Statehood Commission. “This occasion is the perfect time to recognize their place as an integral part of our community.”

If your business is celebrating its 50th year of doing business in Hawaii in 2009, the Statehood Commission would like to hear from you. Contact Chris Hossellman at (808) 586-0193 or email statehood@hawaii.gov.
