OK, you can drive through that intersection now. All fixed, thank you Department of Public Works guys and the cops who directed traffic!

Were ya trying to get somewhere? How’d that work out? 

County Public Works staff was lending assistance and providing expertise all afternoon to the State Department of Transportation to repair a traffic signal at the intersection of Palani Road and Queen Kaahumanu Highway.

And, as you might expect, traffic kinda sucked. But the police officers seemed friendly enough and vehicles were moving …

In an additional piece of ‘yeah-thanks-but-a-little-late’ news, motorists were being asked to use Henry Street to access Palani Road. 

Meanwhile, over on the Hilo side, the traffic signal at the intersection of Bay Front Highway and the oceanside of Waianuenue Avenue in downtown Hilo was not working. The traffic signal continued to flash intermittently causing motorists to slowdown.  Heavy rains were blamed for short-circuiting wires and Public Works personnel are at the site fixing the proble

Intermittent flashing lights at the intersection of Bay Front Highway and the oceanside of Waianuenue Avenue is expected to continue throughout the day, and maybe New Year’s Eve.
