The County Department of Parks & Recreation announces the early closure of the Old Kona Airport Park and Kailua Park on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31. The Old Kona Airport Park, which includes the old runway, beach, pavilions and walking path, will be closed at 6 p.m. Kailua Park, which includes the playing fields, play courts, playground, pool and gym, will be closed at 8:30 p.m. Both parks will reopen the following day and resume their standard hours of operation.
