MEDIA RELEASE

A 45-year-old Ocean View man is in police custody after being arrested for making a false report to police.

Kona Community Policing Officers responded to a reported “man with a gun” call around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17. Officers were unable to locate anyone described by the reporting party.

Upon checking how the call was received by dispatch, officers learned the male caller was supposedly observing this man with a gun through binoculars and the call was placed from an area where it was not possible to view the location.

Officers made contact with the caller, who initially provided a false name. He was identified as Phillip Luceano Colleoni and was arrested for the false reporting case.

Further investigation revealed that in November, Colleoni was responsible for breaking a glass showcase at a jewelry store in The Kings Shops in Waikoloa. Damage was estimated at $400.

Officers also determined Colleoni was responsible for calling in a bomb threat Dec. 11 to a jewelry store at The Kings Shops in Waikoloa.

He was charged at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 with fourth-degree criminal property damage, second-degree terroristic threatening and false reporting to law enforcement.

Colleoni was being held at the Kealakehe Police Station cellblock in lieu of $4,000 bail pending an initial court appearance.
