Winners of the Kailua-Kona Community Christmas Parade have been announced. The parade Saturday, Dec. 13 included 62 entries and more than 1,200 participants.
Nonprofit award winners receive cash awards and all winners receive certificates or plaques, which may be picked up at the west side mayor’s office next week.
Winners in the nonprofit/community division:
*Floats: first, Kealakehe Neighborhood Watch; second, Kona Shrine Club; third, University of the Nations
* Marching: first, High School of the Pacific; second, Operation Christmas Child; third, Japanese Social Club of Kona
* Keiki: first, Ke Kula o Ehunuikaimalino Hawaiian Immersion School in association with Pacific Radio Group/KAPA Radio; second, Kona 4-H Federation; third, Girl Scouts Troop 751 of Kona
Winners in the commercial division:
* Best Christmas Spirit: first, U.S. Post Office; second, Dance Hawaii Ballroom Club; third, Aloha Nail Co.
Special awards:
* Best School Award: Innovations Public Charter School
* Crowd Pleaser: Roberts Hawaii
* Best Music: Solar Wind Band
* Best Lights: Hawaii Electric Light Co. Employees Toys for Tots
* Judges’ special award: Kona Coast Kennel Club
