Ala Kahakai Trail trek planned Dec. 20

Kona Hiking Club plans a Saturday, Dec. 20 hike from Hookena Beach to Puuhonau O Honaunau National Historical Park.

The trek is planned as a one-way, 4.5-mile hike along Ala Kahakai Trail, which recently was cleared by volunteers from the Hookena and Kona Paradise areas. The hike runs through the ruins of historic Kiilae Village.
It is a coastline hike with no significant climbs.

Hikers are urged to carry two liters of water, a hat a hiking stick, and snacks.
Meet at 8 a.m. at Puuhonau O Honaunau National Historical Park parking lot to carpool. Park admission will apply.

Anyone wishing to carpool may meet at 7 a.m. at Lanihau Center near Buns in the Sun and depart by 7:15 a.m. Kick in gas money.
