County fire crews spent the day battling a blaze at Kua Bay and remained on scene overnight. It had burned about 10 acres.
The fire, along Makalawena Beach access road, was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. and forced evacuation of the beach park at Kua Bay. No injuries were reported.
Five engines, two tankers, at least two helicopters and more than two dozen personnel assisted in the battle.
