County grant awarded to Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers

The county Department of Research and Development has awarded $4,000 in supplemental funding to the Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers for the development and production of the Big Island Avocado poster.

The poster features many avocado varieties that have market potential and highlights avocado varieties most favored by chefs. It will be used to promote the avocado industry on the island and to educate chefs, wholesalers, retailers and consumers on the many varieties of avocados grown on the Big Island.

The poster will be available in early 2009.
